[extracts from an Article by:  UNDER ONE ROOF – October 2024]

There are a number of compliance certificates that are legally required when selling a home. Buyers also need to be aware of these as without them, the transfer will not progress.

Some of these are not a requirement in all Provinces in South Africa…

  1. The Electrical Certificate (ECOC)
Every residential property must have a valid ECoC as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

  1. The Electrical Fence Certificate (EFCOC)
This compulsory certificate will confirm that your electric fence is safe, installed properly, and complies with the South African National Standards

All gas installations require a CoC, which is accordance to Pressure Equipment Regulations contained under the Occupational Health and Safety Act

  1. The Beetle Infestation Clearance Certificate
Many financial home loan providers require this certificate before approving a home loan
